It’s Employee Learning Week 2007 @ PLCMC. Today’s topic is Healthy Bodies = Healthy Minds.

What would you do with an extra day of vacation each year?
Spend time with family.
Get a head start on some holiday shopping.
Take a day to rest after completing a big project.

So how can you get the extra day off? It’s as easy as pie—or walking off that pie!

Sign up for the Fit City Challenge.

*Speaking of pie, how long does a 150lb person have to walk to burn off a piece of apple pie?
Email the correct answer to Jody Schmidt by Friday, December 14 to have your name entered in a drawing for a prize.

ELW2007 Kickoff: A Trip to Australia!

Employee Learning Week 2007 kicked off with a bang today when our director, Charles Brown, announced the chance for one lucky staff person to participate in an all expense paid exchange program with the Yarra Plenty Regional Library in Melbourne, Australia!

During the month long exchange program the PLCMC staff member will have the chance to learn from staff and gather work experiences at the YPRL. Upon returning, the exchange participant will prepare both a written report and presentation about the best practices, ideas and experiences gathered during the exchange.

The Staff Exchange Enrichment Program aims to provide staff with opportunities to receive and share information and best practices with other world-class innovative libraries and is considered an essential component of PLCMC’s commitment to staff development.

The program is open to any full-time PLCMC employee who has been at the library for at least one year and who has received successful or exemplary on his or her last annual performance review.

I’m so excited! What a great opportunity for one of our employees! I love working for an organization that is so committed to developing its staff!
