Congratulations to the 2010 Movers & Shakers

Congratulations to the Library Journal Movers & Shakers for 2010, http://www.libraryjournal.com/ms2010. I’m happy to see so many friends whom I’ve come to know through various social networks such as Twitter and Facebook being recognized for the amazing contributions they make to the library profession.

I’d like to give a special shout of congratulations to my good friend Maurice Coleman. If you are not a member of the T is for Training phenomenon…what are you waiting for?

Congratulations to everyone!

Yes, indeed! Congratulations to everyone — it does seem like a great crop of folks. And thanks to you, Lori, for your earlier post about advice for the 2010 Movers & Shakers, as a former M&S yourself. Great stuff, and written in a very practical, honest and humorous way. I’m glad you included a link to the October 1, 2008 issue of Library Journal written by Chrystie Hill & Meredith Farkas, who surveyed what other M&S have experienced. There was a quote in that article that resonated with me.

“Respondents yearned to get past ‘working in crisis mode’ so they could explore innovative services, marketing, and creative problem-solving, while completing ‘the regular stuff.’”

I think that about sums up “this decade in libraries” for a lot of people. If anyone solves that dilemma, they will have guaranteed for themselves a slot in a future Mover & Shaker issue of Library Journal.

Excellent point Sarah and I think you would be one of the prime contenders for solving that dilemma! I admire the work that you do and your ability to balance that with a healthy personal life and taking time for yourself. Thanks for commenting and reading! :)
